I would really loved it if there was a link to a list of sailors who went through these gates.
Boy o Boy, did this book bring back some wonderful memories. I went to boot camp there in 1970. It's now 2013 and it was yesterday all the memories that came rushing back. It was tough, it was long(26Wks)and it was defining. It made a man out of me, gave me purpose and direction in and for the rest of my life. My Company Commander (navy D.I.) was old school and a sailor to the core. He became the surrogate father I never had and he was all over me like a $3.00 suit. But when I graduated I knew he was as proud of my accomplishment as I was. I'm getting old and my memory is not what it used to be, but I have never forgotten my "Chief" and I never will. In my eyes he was the Naval Training Center. That's what this book brings back to mind. The entry of a punk smart mouthed kid, and 26 weeks later, the emergence of a young man with discipline, goals, objectives, pride, honor and love of Country and the United States Navy. If you're a swabby or squid,and you completed boot at San Diego you owe it to yourself to purchase and throughly read and enjoy this book. I highly recommend it to all, sailors and family so everyone can understand how their "sailor" became the man he did. REDDOGG

ENJOYED BOOK VERY MUCH, BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF MEMEORIES. I ATTENDED BOOT CAMP HERE FROM FEB THRU APRIL 1967 WHILE IN THE NAVY. I WAS STATIONED AT NORTH ISLAND WITH VS-35 FROM 1967 THRU 1970.
I enjoyed the history that I was a prt of (Dec 1966-Jan 1967) Company 715 BM 1 Lambert. Great company.
The book is an awesome tribute to a base where so many young men came to train to start their Navy career. Great shape with the perfect binding & the pictures are awesome!
