About the Author
Cameron Trimble is the Executive Director and CEO of the Center for Progressive Renewal. Cameron also serves on the board of directors for Convergence. Her ministry in national and regional church settings has given her a unique perspective on the challenges of cultivating leaders equipped to meet the needs of the future of mainline Protestantism. Rev. Trimble is an adjunct professor teaching church planting and renewal with the Pacific School of Religion and Chicago Theological Seminary and co-author of Liberating Hope.

As a lay leader in a progressive church, I found "Piloting Church" an insightul look into challenges leaders face in any church or any organization for that matter. Cameron Trimble always has insights and perhaps a different way of looking at the big picture. It is clear that she is an out of the box thinker and problem solver. Her passion for a better world is evident and her ability to motivate others for involvment can be contagious. Our church has put several of her ideas in practice with much success. I don't know much about the airplane portions, but the imagery did create an intriging aspect that kept interest. This is not only a great book for clergy, but for clergy to pass on to other leaders in their churches.
This book is a refreshing, accessible resource for any church looking to focus and dig deeply into themselves to be church in a new way! The checklists are soooo helpful for leaders and congregations. Rev. Trimble’s extended piloting metaphor really works well, and is applicable even to those of us who are afraid of heights. :)* I received a complimentary copy of this book and am offering an honest review.
Admittedly, I don't like flying... but this book left me ready to soar. Inspiring work that challenges us to meet the leadership demands of a changing world and church. We are tasked to meet this day with a new vision and capacity. We are not alone in the task. This manual, for faithful movement in the changing church, is just what pastors, lay leaders, and the disaffected need. Get a copy for yourself and then 12 more to hand out to the disciples you know waiting to faithfully move forward the ways of Jesus. If not us, then who?
