I am a pets owner with no Veterinary Medicine background, and English is not my first language. Although this book is written for veterinary doctors, I found this book extremely helpful as a resource/reference on my dog's GI issues. The book editor, Dr. Steiner is an international known scholar and clinician who won a prestige Pfizer research award. I found the book very well organized: logical, concise and very easy to follow. It starts with a section on diagnosis of GI disorder, followed by diseases of GI track. It has a lot of helpful figures and tables with differential diagnosis (e.g. by present/absent of certain symptoms). It also suggests multiple assessment tools to confirm or rule out certain GI disorders based on current research and clinical findings, as well as empirically validated treatment protocols. This entire book is printed on very high quality paper with a lot of colorful photos from actual cases. Since I do not know most of the vet terminologies, I also use the abbreviations and subject index to look up tests our doctors recommended or performed. There is a lot of information on the internet and it's hard for me to sort out what is valid. With this book, I am confident that I am getting the evidence based (scientifically proven) and practical clinical information from international experts in this field. This is one of the best veterinary textbooks I've read. I highly recommend this book for libraries, veterinary doctors, and even pet owners.

I appreciate Carrie Green and her teachings, but initially I was hesitant to purchase this book. I thought to myself do I really need another book with more information on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Now don't get me wrong I can be an information junkie, but sometimes that's all it is information without practical instruction. Well I gave in and decided to purchase this book and I am very glad I did. First of all Carrie infuses her story throughout the book, which makes it very relatable. The chapters are short and to the point and have practical action steps for you to take. Not only does Carrie discuss the nuts and bolts on how to start, build and grow your business she also has several chapters on mindset and self-care. Things us entrepreneurs tend to forget about. Throughout the book Carrie uses words to celebrates and encourage you. It is if she is right beside you cheering you on. Helping you to believe you can have a successful business.I highly recommend this book for all entrepreneurs no matter what stage you are in their business. It's s book I will read often.

I was disappointed but not surprised by the lack of substance this book provided. It's a nice motivational book but it doesn't really help you in starting your own business. The content on Carrie's blog and website are very similar: a lot of encouragement but not very deep. I just started my business and I've gathered a lot of helpful advice and ideas for FREE online but I paid for this book and most of what I got from it, I could have found online at little to no cost. I think the book is nice if you're feeling down about the direction of your business and need a boost but even still, the book didn't necessarily motivate me. In fact, it disheartened me a bit because Carrie had this supportive network of people to help her and give business advice which most of us who are just starting our business do not have. Her so called "encouragement" was unrealistic for those who are starting a business from scratch and have no real support or mentors to reach out to. Majority of the book was just giving examples of business success stories from friends of hers and they too had some sort of support, whether it be from Carrie herself or family. Not everyone has that kind of luxury and privilege to have a group of people in high places who are behind you all the way and will reach out to help as much as they can. Bottomline, this book will make you feel good at the beginning but won't give you a realistic approach to starting and maintaining a successful business.

If you are a serious female entrepreneur or want to be one, and are going to purchase a single book to learn from, this is the one! I have been a business owner for 18 years, and it is important to always be learning. I've read many business & personal development books throughout the years. If you've ever watched & listened to Carrie online, you quickly get to know her personality, and that is carried through in her book. In the 3 times I have listened to it, I "hear" valuable points that I didn't quite hear the first time (or second time). When reading the book, I am able to connect her voice with the words and it really resonates with me even more. This resource is truly worth thousands of dollars. Carrie is a visionary. She brings great wisdom, and backs it up with her own trials & tribulations, plus has the vision to help every female entrepreneur that wants help. I am impressed that a woman as young as Carrie has made such great strides professionally, and has the maturity & business know-how of a much more seasoned successful business woman. You won't find another exceptional business resource like this that is so affordable! I also highly recommend soaking up as many resources as you can from Carrie online. She will help you change your life for the better-if you are ready!

I am not a student of Hindu Mythology but was recently moved to learn about the archetype of Divine Unconditional Love and Compassion embodied in the Hindu goddess Paravati. Thankfully, a friend recommended this children's book about the elephant-headed Hindu god, Ganesh, as an introduction to Paravati, who is his mother. The book is a beautifully illustrated story of feminine unconditional love, compassion and strength. When Paravati speaks, her god-consort Shiva hastens to enact her will! Hence, Ganesh gets his elephant head. This book is a fine example of excellent children's literature which is fit for adult readers as well as young ones.

Not only is this book beautifully illustrated, but the story is nicely told. I bought it for my 6 year old daughters and they love reading it over and over again. I would estimate that this is for grade 1 reading level or above. Overall the general quality of this series (storytelling and illustrations) is quite high. I have purchased several in the series and would like to collect them all - makes for a nice collection for Hindu kids raised in the west and is generally good all around for those who just want to learn about the Hindu religion.

Beautifully illustrated, wonderful story told in an interesting style for children (and adults).Highly recommend for anyone interested in Hindu culture.

My daughter who is four loves this book. I was a little surprised that she liked it so much, since it is a little advanced for her. The only reason that I do not give it five stars is that the story has been altered slightly to be more palatable to today's kids. For instance, the Gods ask permission from an elephant mother before taking her son's head and putting it on Ganesh's body. This was not in the original story, and since we are talking about a religous text, this is the equivalent of telling children that Jesus drank grape juice instead of wine. Still a great book, but the story has been slightly sugar coated.

Lots of reviews say their 4 year old like the book, but it is LONG for a 4 yr old. I would have preferred a more abridged version for a kid this young. I would think this is better for a 6-7 year old.

My son loves the book How Ganesh Got his Elephant Head! I have read it to him and his friends at least a hundred times! Although the author's choice of vocabulary is complicated for a five year old, my son has learned many new words and their meaning.He says, "I like the pictures and learning about each of the Gods is fun. My favorite part is matching each God with his or her vehicle. How come Ganesh does not squish the mouse his rides?"

This is a great introduction to (or addition to a collection) centered around Ganesh. The story is brilliantly illustrated and the text is great. I was very happy with the purchase.

I grew up reading Amar Chitra Katha comics that tell Hindu (and other) religious stories and Indian Folk Tales in a very straightforward (sometimes slightly graphic way). I still have a large collection I'll pass on to my kids, and their telling of Ganesa is my favorite.Compared to those, this is a slightly less appealing though still decent telling of the Ganesa story. It takes some creative license (it leaves out some of the "color" to how Ganesa received the elephant's head, for exxample) that results in a story that is a bit too toned down/altered for my tastes, but it's still good.

I bought this book after hearing the author interviewed and paid full price, which I do only rarely. It was worth it! A number of books have been written imitating popular authors, such as the many imitations of Jane Austen and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and I have seldom found them satisfying. This was a BIG exception.From the first page I knew that Jeeves and the King of Clubs had captured the voice of Bertie. My long-suffering spouse had his own reading interrupted regularly as I laughed out loud. How could I resist when Bertie described the seventh Earl of Sidcup as a “sore for sighted eyes” or mentioned an MP whose colleagues called him “Whiner the Poo” or declared his Aunt Dahlia “chews broken glass to sharpen her tongue”?When author Ben Schott calls his book an homage to P. G. Wodehouse, he is not kidding. Not only is it a delightful read, but it is meticulously researched. Notes at the end document references to Wodehouse’s work and also to historical information like real gentlemen’s clubs that are mentioned in the book or were used as a basis for fictional associations.Jeeves and the King of Clubs is lots of laughs, a fun story, and informative, too! “Plum” would be delighted!

Delightful! The author has not tried to be Wodehouse, but has written, as the title declares, a joyful homage, entering gleefully into the Wodehousian world, and sweeping the reader along in his wake. If you already love Jeeves and Bertie, read it. You will be charmed all over again. If not, have a go. You may find yourself wanting to read the original Wodehouse stories as well!

This book is unreadable. The language is so pretentious and contrived that I could not get past 50 pages. Here is an example of the language from Bertie: “At that moment I had the kind of flash that would have made Archimedes fling his loofah.” When Bertie opens the door, he says that the door “yielded to its master’s key.” Bertie doesn’t walk but rather “ankles” from place to place. When he consults his diary, he “expockets” it. Nobody talks like this, not even Bertie Wooster. I wonder if the people who gave this book good reviews ever actually read Wodehouse.

Bertie Wooster and his omnicompetent valet Jeeves are the main characters of a large number of short stories and novels written in the years between 1915 and 1974, by P. G. Wodehouse, hereafter referred to as The Master. The incredible narrative trick pulled off successfully by The Master is that the adventures are narrated by Wooster himself, and while the adventures frame Wooster as a hopeless dunce, the narrative itself is a masterpiece of English literature. Not since Shakespeare has there been anything displaying such an absolute command of simile, or such a free coinage of new words.So to write a new adventure of Wooster and Jeeves is to bite off something much too large for any mere human to chew. The time warps alone would defeat any prospective author who is not in command of the last two or three centuries of British cultural history. Take Bertie's age. The Master keeps him between about 25 and 29 throughout the saga, and existing within a timeless era which is usually pre-World-War 1, but sometimes appears to jump inexplicably to the interval between the two World Wars, and even eventually shows awareness of things happening in the 1960s.So how does Ben Schott do? I think, all things considered, he does amazingly well. This new adventure seems to take place near the eve of World War 2, and Bertie is both older and wiser than in the works of The Master. Indeed, Bertie is so mature and perspicacious that for once he attracts the attention of a beautiful, intelligent, multi-talented young girl, who clearly finds him an interesting companion! As in the usual tale by The Master, Bertie's troubles mainly result from the fact that he is so good-natured that he can't say no to any request for a favor from a friend or relative, no matter how insane and life-complicating the favor's consequences must and will turn out to be.I enjoyed it throughout. At first, when a main new character turned out to be a Scottish Laird named MacAslan, I thought Schott might be paying a tribute to novelist D. E. Stevenson, but a glance at the back jacket flap revealed that Schott has a photographer friend named MacAslan. At the end of this latest saga are also quite a few pages of helpful notes indicating what's real and what's imaginary in the various institutions, individuals, situations and games of chance that Bertie encounters.By the way, one of the novel's main villains, the infamous and odious Roderick Spode, familiar from many works of The Master, is here seen newly energized, and giving political speeches to crowds of ruffians and hooligans, speeches that map fairly closely onto the incoherent babble of Donald Trump. Good fun.If you are a fan of The Master, as I am, I believe you will find this effort worthy of your attention.

King of Clubs is great fun for Plum addicts, but Ben Schott has replaced the feather-brained Bertie Wooster with a rather sharp and even principled young man -- and a keen social critic at that. The New Bertie has no use for the British fascist leader Oswald Mosely (transformed here into Roderick Spode, Lord Sidcup) and is very happy (and not terribly surprised) to be recruited by British Intelligence. Thereon follows farce, but the undercurrents of coming war are quite out of character for Plum himself. Remember that Wodehouse, interned by the Nazis in 1941, was naive enough to do English-language broadcasts from Berlin, aimed at a still-neutral American audience. Jeeves, of course, turns out to be a counter-intelligence agent of the first water.

I own or have read all of P.G. Wodehouse's fiction, and am always on the lookout for a new voice plowing old ground. Ben Schott is the perfect heir to the legacy. His tone and pacing brings to mind the best of vintage Wodehouse, and I hopehe will continue and write many, many more books. Highest recomendation.

This is a wonderful homage to the original stories. Bertie in these stories actually seems a bit more human and three dimensional than the original, but that rather adds to the experience. I could not put this down, I wanted to prolong the pleasure. After finishing this book, I tried the other addition to the Jeeves and Wooster saga, by Faulks, but that by comparison is plodding, plus he had the chutzpah to marry-off both of our heroes. This volume was a worthy successor, please give us more!
