This is an excellent technique book for beginning piano students. I have used Finger Power books for over 30 years. I'm glad they haven't changed the content. They're perfect for beginners.

This is a product for those who believe in traditional piano teaching methods, not the modern methods where students learn to play songs quickly but fail to really learn to read music or proper technique. I used this product in the 70's and am now purchasing it for my young sons. I can't tell you that it's fun, but it is effective in teaching proper technique, building finger strength, and ensuring proper development in both hands. This is like sending your hands to the gym for a piano workout. To balance out this effective-but-not-fun program, I'll also purchase the Pointer system books for my kids. That system teaches chord theory but it is fun, useful if you want to play guitar later, and the songs sound really cool for the younger student. John Thompson (from the 30's) provides the foundation for their learning, and then we will move over to Schaum after the 1st grade book. The point here is that Fingerpower should not be used alone, but rather to supplement your regular piano program, and I'd recommend finding an additional system like Pointer to help keep the learning process fun.

It's so nice to just be able to get your fingering down! I'm just starting to learn piano and this book as been immensely helpful to help me coordinate notes with finger actions on each hand. It's the perfect amount of challenging for newbies like me. Buy it!

I have used these Finger Power Books for many years and found them to be very helpful.

At first sight, this thin book looks like child's play, but it's perfect for any age and at any stage. It's for the person who wants to acquire precision in timing, finger placement, finger strength, and equal hand development. The exercises start out easy and get progressively harder. My piano teacher says it's a book used by college piano majors to warm up for their practice sessions with their professors. You get a great sense of satisfaction from achieving each exercise, and you get even more benefit as you continue to incorporate them into your daily routine.

This is a good book for a beginner just wanting to learn how to sew and work with leather. It teaches you which leather is best for the project you have in mind, how to sew leather, how to set rivets, and embellish. It gives you a run down of the basic tools you'll need to get started. There are some cute patterns in the book for wallets and a variety of bags.If you already know how to work with leather, this book may not be what you're looking for, but for a beginner, it's a great start.

This book is a little different that other ones of this type, but in a good way. There are a few patterns that we can use, and the variations in the book really hilite the patterns. I have a good feeling that the patterns that we use from this book will sell well. Im glad I found it.

I have an old sewing machine that can sew through anything. I hope to use this book to be able to start making my own leather purses. Came in great shape.

I was really disappointed in the poor sewing quality and amateur-ish work of the sample products photographed in this book. I expected better from a professional publication. Student projects with un-even stitching and tacky designs really detracted from the rest of the book.The step-by-step explanations were almost entirely in semi-cartoon-y illustrations, not photos of each step. While illustrations can be fine in a sewing book, I found these less than clear because of the water-colors that were often dark and covered essential stitching details and it seemed like some steps had no illustrations at all (but needed them).The book did include some patterns in the back, but they wouldn't be worth buying this book to get them -- they were basic and they were printed on BOTH sides (with different patterns) so you'd have to copy them before using them.I'm an experienced sewist and patternmaker who is just starting to work with leather and wanted good reference books for my shelf, but this book won't be staying on my shelf -- it's going to be sent out for donation. There are much better books out there for making leather bags/accessories -- I wouldn't recommend this one.

This book is essentially a guide to a student show but includes all of the patterns and contstruction techniques to make the items featured. Excellent instructions plus guidance on choosing suitable materials and where and how to obtain them. Includes all the patterns on tear out pages so that you can take them to the copier to enlarge them to the exact size of the samples. It even includes e-mail addresses for the people whose work is featured. Truly an excellent additon to the library of the aspiring handbag artist.

This is a good book for learning leather purse making from the ground up. I would recommend due to its clarity and numerous techniques in design. I plan to apply these in making my own styles. No shipping and handling fees is another plus.

I was very excited to get this book and then I looked through it at the purses. I was very disappointed in the styles of items in the book. The orange item on the cover was a holder for sunglasses and was not a wallet like I thought. Matter of fact there was no wallet in the book at all!When I looked at the patterns included to make the items I found that the directions say to enlarge the pattern but not to what size? Nor were any final dimensions for the items shown given. Yes, you can enlarge them to whatever size you want but it would be nice to have an idea so you know where to start from. Otherwise what is the point of telling me I need 3 ft of leather, six inches of this, 2 feet of that if I have no idea what size pattern they are using?I did like the style of three purses in this book. I got the book used and paid less than $9 with shipping but would want my money back if I paid more than that for it.
